Rutgers women defeat Delaware women in soccer 1-0 on a penalty kick

August 30, 2013 (ISN) – The University of Delaware Women’s Soccer team fell to the Lady Scarlet Knights of Rutgers University by a 1-0 score on a first half penalty kick by Jonelle Filigno with 18:11 on the clock and they registered 7 shots but their rally fell short.

Senior Jessica Levy recorded a game high 5 saves and gave up 1 goal in the loss for Rutgers Jessica Janosz recorded 1 save in the game both played 90:00.

Delaware with the defeat falls to 0-3 and will take on Loyola College of Maryland on Thursday, September 6, 2013 at the Delaware Soccer Field. Tickets go to 


· Maddy Parker and Allegra Gray were the only field players for the Hens to play a full 90 minutes in this evening’s match.

· Nikki Adams and Gray led Delaware with two shots each.

· Freshman Carolyn Seltzer earned her first collegiate start against the Scarlett Knights.

· Delaware returns home, Friday Sept. 6 at 5:30 p.m. against Loyola (Md.) for the home opener
