August 31, 2013, Montreal (ISN) – Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, a 22-year-old medical student with the McGill University Redmen, has been named to the College Football America CIS Preseason All-Canada team.

His senior campaign officially gets underway on Saturday when McGill travels to Quebec City to play Laval in a 7 p.m. start. The game will be webcast live in French at www.radio-canada.ca/quebec

After showcasing his skills at the 2013 CIS East-West Bowl last May, the 6-foot-5, 305-pound offensive lineman from St. Hilaire, Que., was listed by CFL.com as an early favourite to be the top-ranked prospect in the 2014 Canadian Football League draft. To date, three teams from the National Football League have also expressed an interest and Duvernay-Tardif is considered a solid candidate to be selected in the NFL draft as well.

A CIS all-Canadian last season, he is one of eight players from the RSEQ conference to be named by College Football America. The OUA led all conferences in the CIS with a dozen players selected, while Canada West had four and the AUS merited three honorees.

Published by Amazon.com’s CreateSpace division, College Football America 2013 Yearbook Encyclopedia features 919 college football teams in the US and Canada, including every team in the NCAA, NAIA, NJCAA and CCCAA along with all 27 teams in Canadian Interuniversity Sport.
