Canadian Women’s Volleyball Team Heads to Seattle for Two-Game Series

September 4, 2013, Seattle, WA – The Canadian National Women’s Volleyball Team will face the University of Washington Huskies in a a two-match in-season exhibition this week in Seattle.

The first match, on Sept. 6 at 7:00 p.m., will take place at KeyArena and for the Huskies will serve as a dry run for the 2013 NCAA® Division I Women’s Volleyball Championship coming to the same location later this year. The following evening, Sept. 7, the teams will play at Alaska Airlines Arena on UW campus with a 6 p.m. start time.

“We are looking forward to the matches in Seattle,” said Canadian National Team Head Coach Arnd Ludwig. “It is a great opportunity to play against a top team (ranked fifth) from the NCAA and we see this series against UW as a great chance to fine tune our game for the NORCECA Championship, that starts a week later.”

Husky Head Coach Jim McLaughlin said the Canadian National Team would put a lot of pressure on Washington. “They’re getting ready for a major tournament and they’ll be ready to go. It’s going to be a good test for our team,” he said. “Also, playing in the Final Four site is a big deal. We’ve had a great history with Canada so bringing them in made a lot of sense. We’re lucky they had the time and the schedule worked out that we could do it.”
