Spruce Kings Announce 22 Man Roster

September 3, 2013, PRINCE GEORGE, BC – The Prince George Spruce Kings of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) have announced their 22 man roster for the start of the 2013-14 regular season.

The roster includes 6 players from Prince George, 9 returning players, 4 twenty year olds, 3 seventeen year olds, 7 eighteen year olds and 8 nineteen year old players.

To get down to the 22-man roster, the Spruce Kings made two moves today, trading 19 year old defenceman Luke Formica to the Winkler Flyers of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL) in exchange for future considerations and getting a commitment from Brogan O’Brien to the team for the 2014-15 season. O’Brien has been reassigned to the BC Major Midget Cariboo Cougars in Prince George for the season, but will be called upon to practice and play for the Spruce Kings as an affiliate player.

The two goaltenders are: Alex Murray (93) 6.00 190 lbs from Burlington Ontario and Jesse Jenks (95) 6.02 180 lbs from Duncan BC.

Seven defenceman will start the season: Mitch Eden (94) 5.11 197 lbs from Bracebridge Ontario, Danny Kiraly (95) 6.01 180 lbs from Glendale Arizona, Skylar Pacheco (94) 5.10 175 lbs from Kitimat BC, Stephen Penner (95) 6.05 190 lbs from Prince George BC, Caleb Thompson (94) 6.00 185 lbs from Oklahoma City Oklahoma, Karan Toor (94) 5.11 180 lbs from Surrey BC and Christian Weidauer (93) 6.03 190 lbs from Keswick Ontario.

The thirteen forwards are: Mitchell Barker (96) 5.11 175 lbs from Kamloops BC, Derek Bulmer (95) 6.04 185 lbs from Prince George BC, Bryant Christian (93) 5.10 170 lbs from Moorhead Minnesota, Braiden Epp (96) 5.10 170 lbs from Prince George BC, Riley Hawes (95) 6.03 190 lbs from Prince George BC, Sean Landrey (93) 6.04 229 lbs from Prince George BC, Brent Lashuk (94) 6.02 210 lbs from Kelowna BC, Jake LeBrun (95) 6.01 215 lbs from Prince George BC, Jeremiah Luedtke (94) 5.08 150 lbs from Lynwood Washington, Matt Painchaud (96) 5.10 165 lbs from Delta BC, Justin Rai (94) 5.10 165 lbs from Surrey BC, Chad Staley (94) 5.09 170 lbs from Kennewich Washington and Cole Todd (95) 6.01 175 lbs from North Vancouver BC.

The Spruce Kings will start the regular season in Chilliwack at the BCHL Bauer Showcase on Saturday September 7th vs the Cowichan Valley Capitals. On September 8th, the Spruce Kings will be considered the home team for their second game vs the Nanaimo Clippers.
