September 4, 2013, Montreal, PQ – For the second time in just three weeks, Alouettes linebacker Marc-Olivier Brouillette has been named the CFL’s Canadian Player of the Week following a Week 10 win in Toronto which sets up a first-place showdown this Sunday in Montreal.

Marc-Olivier Brouillette – Canadian Player of the Week

Brouillette set up teammate Shea Emry’s second career TD, forcing the ball loose from Argonauts quarterback Zach Collaros before Emry scooped it up and ran it back 38 yards for the major, putting the Alouettes ahead by two scores late in the second quarter.

The 27-year-old Montreal native also helped the Alouettes defensive unit hold the Argonauts to just 311 net yards on offence, including four turnovers, while adding a career-best six defensive tackles and two QB sacks in the Alouettes’ 20-9 win.

The former Universite de Montreal Carabins product has now tallied 13 defensive tackles, four sacks and one special teams tackle since the start of the regular season.

Montreal has been showcasing its Canadian talent as of late, with Week 10 marking the third time in as many weeks that an Alouettes players receives the honour, receiver Eric Deslauriers getting the nod a week ago for his work versus B.C., in between Brouillette’s two nominations.

Calvillo Placed on Injured Reserve

The Alouettes also announced on Wednesday that quarterback Anthony Calvillo has been placed on the nine-game injured list for precautionary reasons.

Every CFL team has two opportunities per season to remove a player from the nine-game injured list, and doing so remains an option for the Alouettes and Calvillo, depending on his recovery process.
