September 6, 2013, VICTORIA –The Victoria Mariners are ready for this year’s Fall Ball season, which gets underway Saturday September 7th at Layritz Park at 10:00 a.m. with the Premier team taking on Nanaimo and White Rock.

The Fall Ball season is structured in a more relaxed format than the summer’s BCPBL season and provides an opportunity for coaches to observe new and returning players for the 2014 season. A total of 60 players will be taking part, with high hopes of making the final spots for both the Junior and Senior teams.

“Our teams are getting stronger each year and although Fall Ball is less stringent on format the players know they are being assessed through each game,” said Mike Chewpoy, Senior Coach for the Mariners. “It’s a short season but still provides some great entertainment for the public.”

The Fall Ball season for the Victoria Mariners includes match-ups against the Nanaimo Pirates, White Rock Tritons, Parksville and the Victoria Eagles. The Premier Mariners are also heading to Kamloops later in the month for a B.C.-wide tournament. The season wraps up in early October.

The Victoria Mariners are the longest running Premier organization in Victoria and one of the original teams in the BCPBL.
