September 6, 2013, Victoria, BC – The Victoria International Running Society (VIRS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Cathy Noel as the General Manager of the Society, the hosts of the Times Colonist 10k and the Victoria International Track Classic.
Noel brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Society and the position with over 20 years in the sport event management industry. Her career in sport on Vancouver Island started when she moved to Victoria to work at the Victoria Commonwealth Games, 20 years ago as the sport coordinator for the badminton, marathon and walk events. Noel has managed, volunteered, participated in many events locally and internationally, including the Do it for Dad Run for Prostate Cancer, the Subaru Triathlon Series, the Tour de Victoria, Boston Marathon, and Ironman Canada to list a few. She is currently the General Manager of the GoodLife Fitness Victoria Marathon (13 years), Founder of the Victoria Goddess Run, and President of VIRA / Frontrunners Island Race Series.
“I am looking forward to the challenge of the position and building the volunteer team who share the same passion as I do,” Noel said. “I would like to inspire first time participants to take that step and make a lifestyle change, with the goal of attracting runners, walkers and supporters of all ages and ability to the sport of running and Athletics. 2014 is the 25th Anniversary of the TC10K and it is going to be an event not to be missed.”

The Victoria International Running Society (VIRS) is a not-for-profit society that presents athletics events and supports the sport of running in Greater Victoria. It stages the TC10K and the Victoria International Track Classic.
