September 7, 2013, Moncton, NB – Both Université de Moncton soccer teams begin regular season play in Atlantic University Sport today as they host St. Francis Xavier University squads at Stade Moncton 2010 Stadium on the Moncton campus.

The Aigles Bleues host the X-Women at 1 p.m. while the match between the Aigles Bleus and the X-Men is scheduled for 3:15 p.m. Moncton will then travel to Halifax on Sunday to play against the Dalhousie University Tigers, at the same times.

“We did beat the X-Women last season and we have a very good team this year,” said 5th year veteran, Santana Wedge. “I will be completing my fifth and last season with the Aigles Bleues and it will be a bit hard for me, but as always, I will give my 100 per cent all the time. We have a very good system of play combining the offense and the defense. We can adjust to most teams.”

“I look forward to the beginning of the season,” said team captain, fifth year player and keeper, Samuel Charron. ” Even if this is my fifth season, I am as excited as ever. The pressure is a lot stronger this year than in my first season. We have only allowed one goal in three pre-season games and that indicates a strong defence. All we need are a few scoring opportunities to win games and we should go a long way this year.”

“We are very excited and I look forward to Saturday,” said head coach, Angelo Jean-Baptiste. We did very well in pre-season and I expect a strong showing in our first games. This is where it counts. I am very confident the women will do well with very good team chemistry. As for the men, I still need to do a few adjustments in the offensive strategies because we have not scored many goals. Our defence is solid and we need to work on our offense. We did work with our wingers and laterals this week. The combo between our mid-field players and strikers is very important, its’ the strategy that counts. I invite all to come and support our
