September 9, 2013, SASKATOON, SK – The Saskatoon Blades are pleased to announce that they have hired Ray Dudra as the team’s United States-based scout. The Blades have also reassigned goaltender Brandon Kegler.

The veteran scout has 30 years worth of WHL scouting experience, having first entered the league in 1983 with the Medicine Hat Tigers. He has also worked for Spokane and Prince Albert, having retired from the Raiders scouting staff last year.

“We’re very happy to add an experienced eye to our scouting staff,” said Blades general manager Lorne Molleken. “Ray has years of experience in scouting players at this level and we’re looking forward to getting contributions from him throughout the season.”

Dudra currently resides in Edmonton, spending the winter in Arizona. During that time, he will scout and track players throughout the United States for the Saskatoon Blades.

“Scouting players in the United States will be a new experience for me,” said Dudra. “I’m very excited for the opportunity to work not only with Lorne Molleken, Doug Molleken, Jarrod Brodsky and the Blades scouting staff, but also with the new owner and management group they have in Saskatoon.”

“Every year we are seeing more talent coming up to the WHL from the United States,” added Molleken. “Ray will provide us with insight into these players, helping our organization to be as strong as possible.”

The Blades have also re-assigned goaltender Brandon Kegler (’97) to the Leduc Oil Kings M-AAA club.

The 6’2, 193 pound Kegler was the Blades 4th round selection, 79th overall, in the 2012 WHL Bantam Draft. Kegler appeared in the Blades lone exhibition game up to this date, starting and playing the first 40 minutes of the team’s loss in Swift Current last Wednesday.

The move puts the Blades roster at 27 players, including two goalies, 8 defencemen and 17 forwards. The two remaining goaltenders on the Blades roster are Nathan Alalouf and Alex Moodie.

The Blades next exhibition game goes tomorrow night against the Regina Pats at the Credit Union Centre.
