September 10, 2013, Saskatoon, SK – Huskie Athletics and KidSport Saskatchewan are proud to formalize an official partnership.
KidSport is a children’s charity dedicated to assisting children of families facing financial obstacles to participate in community sport programs. The KidSport goal is to provide these children with the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of teamwork, dedication and responsibility through participation in sport.
The partnership, that began on September 1, focuses on cross-promotion, local events and initiatives, provincial initiatives, fundraising and promotions.
“KidSport is thrilled to be partnering with Huskie Athletics to help further grow the KidSport program in Saskatchewan,” said provincial coordinator Mark Korthius. “At KidSport, our goal is to make sure every child has the opportunity to reap the physical and social development benefits that come from taking part in sport. We know that our work with Huskie Athletics will help us meet this goal, and we look forward to providing more children with the opportunity to take part in sport.”
Although there has never been an official agreement between Huskie Athletics and KidSport, the Huskies have supported the agency for a number of years through various activities including volunteering at local events and creating promotional calendars to help fundraise for the kids organization.
“We are pleased to formalize our agreement with an organization that does so much for children in our province and country,” said athletic director Basil Hughton. “Our athletes, coaches and administrative staff look forward to promoting sport and the benefits it can provide.”
Huskie Athletics has committed to sending athletes to assist at KidSport functions such as, the Kidsport Breakfast, Kidsport Mini-Golf Day and multiple Corporate Challenge events in 2013-14. In addition, Huskie Athletics will continue to host fundraisers for KidSport and provide the agency with general donations.
The Canada West Universities Athletic Association has also joined forces with KidSport throughout the four provinces of its members.
