September 11, 2013, Victoria, BC – The Pacific Institute for Sport Excellence (PISE) is pleased to announce that Andrea Carey, Director of Operations and Community Engagement, will be joining ViaSport as Director, ViaSport for Life, effective September 15, 2013, for a period of two years.
Through ViaSport’s partnership with PISE, Carey is being seconded into this new sport leadership role to assist in developing BC’s regional sport hubs and continue building an effective sport system throughout the province.
“Through Andrea’s excellent work in helping develop PISE from start-up to an innovative sport institute, she has emerged as a strong sport development leader,” says Robert Bettauer, CEO, PISE. “We are very excited for her to join the ViaSport team to help build sport and healthy, active lifestyles in every BC community.”

Carey has been with PISE since its opening in 2008 has been a key architect in community programming and building PISE’s reputation as a sports institute. She will remain engaged with PISE to assist during the transition until Stacey Lund returns from maternity leave in April 2014. To further facilitate the transition, three PISE staff members – Ben Syme, Lindsay Player and Jodi Hensel – will be elevated from Coordinator roles to Management positions.
