MONTREAL — The McGill golf team will be participating in a couple of interesting events this weekend.

The Redmen are registered in the ETS Match Play Tournament at Lachute, Que., Sept. 14-15. This inaugural event will feature nine of the 12 Quebec universities in the RSEQ conference playing two rounds on Saturday and one on Sunday at the No.2 course. McGill is seeded third in the competition, based on their results at the UQAC tourney two weeks ago and their ranking at the end of the 2012 season.

Head coach Robert Dubeau will field his “A” team for this event and he is confident that a good result is to be had. His team is intact from last spring’s nationals and includes Ryan Boyd, Benoit Miquel, Tom Calvet, Michael Reaume and Brian Neill. In addition, Will Eberlee, a pleasant surprise in the trials, will also play in the eight-man Individual match play event.

McGill has also entered the Queens Invitational tournament at Kingston on Sunday (Sept 15) and will send the women’s team along with a second men’s squad. Seven Ontario universities are entered and it will be an interesting challenge for McGill.

Two freshmen, Alisha Corringham and Valentine Bougaud along with sophomore Emily Phoenix will make up the Martlets.

On the men’s side, rookies Justin Smith and Jonathan Whelan, will join veterans Ryan Cattanach, Jamie Henderson and Thomas Sinclair. This is an 18-hole medal play event.
