September 18, 2013, Charlottetown, PEI (ISN)—UPEI Athletics and Recreation announced the UPEI Panther Athletes of the Week for September 9–15. UPEI Athletics and Recreation showcase these talented athletes to recognize their hard work and dedication to their respective sports throughout the seasons.
Some of UPEI’s Athletes of the Week also receive greater recognition through Atlantic University Sport and Canadian Interuniversity Sport mentions.
Who: Danielle Lacey, women’s rugby and Adam Lowther, men’s soccer
What: UPEI Panther Athletes of the Week
When: September 9–15
Why: Lacey, a fourth-year player and nursing student, had a strong game in Saturday’s 64–10 win over St. Thomas University and was selected Player of the Game. The York, PEI native plays standoff and had excellent tactical decision-making abilities which led the young team to victory.
Men’s soccer co-captain Lowther showed strong leadership skills over the weekend despite a tough 3–0 loss to StFX on Sunday and 0–0 draw on Saturday against Cape Breton University. Lowther is a fourth-year business student at UPEI.
