September 19, 2013, Nanaimo, BC (ISN) – It’s never too early to start planning a company Christmas party and a responsible way to get home after the celebration.

Operation Red Nose is entering its 18th year of providing an alternative to drinking and driving during the holiday season and its kicking off its volunteer recruitment campaign with an informative evening for all those interested in a volunteering opportunity over the holiday season. The program runs Friday and Saturday night for November 29th to December 31st. For more information please call Don Allan at 250 740-6572.

The Operation Red Nose Volunteer Meet and Greet takes place Monday, September 30th at 7:00 pm in Bldg 100 at the Vancouver Island University.

Organizers are looking for volunteer drivers, navigators, escort drivers, mascots, dispatchers, and headquarter assistants.

Operation Red Nose is a confidential service and is available to any person operating a motor vehicle who does not wish to drive their car for any reason. The service is free of charge; however, donations are gratefully accepted.

Proceeds support local athletes and youth through programs offered by PacificSport Vancouver Island.

“PacificSport provides fantastic opportunities for our athletes to train, and develop, and in doing so, enhances their athletic performance. PacificSport has helped me prepare for my Paralympic competitions. By using Operation Red Nose as a safe ride home during the holiday season, people can support our local youth athletes.”
