Senior boys teams charge into Camosun Men’s Volleyball Fall Classic

September 19, 2013, Victoria, BC (ISN) – This weekend, 18 of the region’s top high school volleyball teams will gather at the Pacific Institute for Sport Excellence and Pacific Christian School to battle for gold at the Camosun Chargers Men’s Volleyball Senior Boys’ Fall Classic.

The action starts Friday, Sept. 20 at 4pm with teams fighting to advance into Saturday’s single knock-out playoff round. All matches are best 2 out of 3.

This year’s event has attracted a record number of teams including back-to-back BC Senior Boys’ Triple A Champions, the Oak Bay Barbers who will be defending their 2012 Fall Classic title.

Challenging the Barbers for the crown are local teams Pacific Christian, Belmont, Reynolds, Claremont, Highlands, Stelly’s, Parkland, Lambrick and Mt. Doug and visitors Woodlands (Nanaimo), Riverside (Port Coquitlam), NDSS (Nanaimo), Dover Bay (Nanaimo), Ucluelet, Gulf Islands (Salt Spring), GP Vanier (Courtenay) and Mark Isfeld (Courtenay).

“We’re very pleased to have 18 teams registered for this year’s Classic, a first for us,” states Chargers Head Coach Charles Parkinson. “We are looking forward to another exciting event which will showcase the talent in the region and allow us to get a look at athletes who may become future Chargers.”
