Silvertips Split Weekend

September 22, 2013 (ISN) – On the weekend the North Island Silvertips opened up the season at the Nanaimo Ice Centre taking on the defending BCMML Champions the North West Giants which both teams split the weekend.

First game of the two game weekend had things locked up till the third period when the Giants would score three unanswered goals to take the 6-2 victory. Hunter Findlater and Grady McInnes would net the only two Silvertips goals while new goaltender John Hawthorne faced 51 shots in the game.

Second game of the set on Sunday morning the Silvertips would come on top with a 3-2 win, Grady McInnes would score two goals while Clayton Peace would add one himself in the victory while Liam Young outstanding in net for the Silvertips.

Both teams kick off the season with a win and loss – the Silvertips are on the road next week taking on the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds at the Richmond Oval, first game on Saturday with a game time of 2:30PM with the second game starting at 4:45PM.
