September 24, 2013, Victoria, BC (ISN) – Trent Knorr is quickly making a name for himself in the National Hockey League. Not as a player but as a referee.

A former Victoria Cougars defenseman, Knorr will be one of the two referees officiating in tonight’s preseason game between the Vancouver Canucks and San Jose Sharks.

The game will be televised live on Sportsnet Pacific (Channel 23) beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Knorr, who will be officiating in the American Hockey League until a position in the NHL becomes available, amassed 127 points and 890 penalty minutes in 172 games while playing for the Cougars.

He will wear 44.
