September 24, 2013, Victoria, BC (ISN) – Once again, the women overpowered the competition. As with last week, the men did well to keep themselves in the game against Premier level competition.

The Academy squad continued to step up its performance over last season (a serious first division squad in its own right). There are some match reports over at .

Coming Up

This weekend, the men host UVic in a double header (1pm and 2:45 on Saturday), while the women have the week off. Sunday, the 3rds kick off their season with an always entertaining trip to Powell River. The bus leaves the club at 6am – don’t be late.

There is plenty of youth rugby on Sunday too: the U18’s host Nanaimo, U18 Langford host JBAA, and the U18 girls host Cowichan. U16’s have a bye, and the U14’s head to Nanaimo. Minis (U8 to U12) train at Velox at 10am.

All players need to remember that they must be registered and have paid their BCRU insurance before playing a game. This can be done online by following the instructions on our website: . After this weekend, players must also have paid their club dues, or made other arrangements with Jay Jimmo.

Metal Drive Fundraiser

To raise cash, the club will be collecting scrap metal from Sunday Sept 29th to Monday Oct 13th. No fridges/freezers, TVs, tires, anything with fluid or oil, anything flammable or combustible, or containing mercury, asbestos, or radioactive materials. More details can be found on our website (soon, if not already).
