Rebels and Broncos Announce Player Movements


September 27, 2013 – Both the Red Deer Rebels and Swift Current Broncos made minor player announcements today, reassigning players to the lower levels.

Brent Sutter, General Manager/Head Coach of the Red Deer Rebels Hockey Club, announced today the reassignment of 19-year old defenceman Riley Boomgaarden to the Melfort Mustangs of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League.

With this move, the Rebels have 25 players on their roster including Mathew Dumba who is currently with the Minnesota Wild of the National Hockey League.

Swift Current Broncos General Manager and Head Coach, Mark Lamb, has announced that the club has re-assigned goaltender Travis Child and defenceman Max Lajoie.

Child, will join the Sherwood Park Kings (AMHL). The 6’1″, 178-pound product of Killam, AB made two pre-season appearances with the team, where he posted a 0.833 save percentage, a 4.00 GAA and a 2-0 record. He was selected by the Broncos in the 2nd round, 29th overall, of the 2012 WHL Bantam Draft.

Lajoie, will join the Calgary Royals (AMHL). The 6′, 173-pound native of Calgary, AB recorded three assists in seven pre-season games with the Broncos. He was selected by the Broncos in the 5th round, 95th overall, of the 2012 WHL Bantam Draft.
