Huskies Down Regina 5-2 in Hockey Match-Up


September 27, 2013, Saskatoon, SK – A Kenton Dulle third period hat trick lifted the University of Saskatchewan Huskie men’s hockey team to a 5-2 win over the visiting University of Regina Cougars in a non-conference match-up Saturday night in Rutherford Rink.

Dulle scored back-to-back goals 15 seconds apart midway through the third period as the teams played four-on-four hockey to give the Huskies a 3-2 lead. Dulle would notch his third goal of the game at 19:47 of the third.

Cody Fowlie scored a power play goal in the first period for Regina, while Tyler Henry scored the Cougars second goal at 3:54 of the second period.

Regina outshot the Huskies 13-10 in the first period, but the Saskatchewan offense would heat up in the final two periods outshooting the Cougars 41-30 in the game.

The provincial rivals will meet again November 20 and 21 in a home-and-home series beginning in Regina.

Saskatchewan opens the Canada West season in Calgary, October 4 against the Mount Royal Cougars.

The Huskies home opening weekend is slated for October 18 and 19 when they host the Alberta Golden Bears at Rutherford Rink.
