Broncos Partner with FCC to Host Drive Away Hunger

September 30, 2013, Swift Current, SK – The Swift Current Broncos Hockey Club is proud to announce that the organization has teamed up with Farm Credit Canada to host Drive Away Hunger.

FCC volunteers will be on hand collecting food and cash donations prior to the Broncos home game against the Vancouver Giants on Saturday, October 12th. All food collected will go to the Swift Current Salvation Army.

FCC volunteers will be handing out collection bags on Wednesday, October 9th when the Broncos host the Calgary Hitmen.

“As we approach Thanksgiving, it is important to remember those who may be less fortunate,” explained Michelle Sandercock, FCC Director, Swift Current District. “FCC’s Drive Away Hunger program is a great opportunity to work together to reduce hunger and make a difference for those in need in Swift Current. We are very excited to have the Swift Current Broncos as partners this year.”

In Swift Current more than 800 food hampers are distributed each year. Provincially, over 24,600 people are assisted by a food bank each month and 48 per cent of those are children.
