Skibin, Jubenville and Kodejs Named AUS Football Players of the Week

October 1, 2013, Halifax, NS – Congratulations to Zack Skibin (Acadia), Rob Jubenville (Saint Mary’s) and Chase Kodejs (Saint Mary’s) on being named Atlantic University Sport Football Players of the Week.

Offensive Player of the Week

  • Name: Zack Skibin
  • University: Acadia University
  • Position: Running Back
  • Hometown: Edmonton, Alta.
  • Year of eligibility: Fourth
  • Academic program: BA
  • Height and weight: 5’10”, 220lbs

Running back Zack Skibin of the Acadia Axemen is the Atlantic University Sport Football Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 29, 2013.

Skibin, a 5-foot-10, fourth-year arts student from Edmonton, Alta., had 14 carries for 112 yards and a touchdown in Saturday’s 40-9 win over the Mount Allison Mounties.

He was named Subway Player of the Game and sits fourth in AUS rushing with 151 rushing yards.


Defensive Player of the Week

  • University: Saint Mary’s University
  • Position: Defensive Line
  • Hometown: Oshawa, Ont.
  • Year of eligibility: Fifth
  • Academic program: BA
  • Height and weight: 6’2″, 257lbs

Defensive lineman Rob Jubenville of the Saint Mary’s University Huskies is the Atlantic University Sport Football Defensive Player of the Week.

A fifth-year arts student from Oshawa, Ont., Jubenville had four sacks, 5.5 tackles, including four tackles for a loss, and a forced fumble in Friday night’s 25-13 win over the St. Francis Xavier X-Men.

Already the all-time career leader in AUS sacks, his performance in Friday’s game landed him in a four-way tie for second place in the AUS record books for most sacks by an individual in a single game.

  • Position: Kicker
  • Hometown: Bedford, N.S.
  • Year of eligibility: First
  • Academic program: BA
  • Height and weight: 6’4″, 196lbs

Rookie kicker Chase Kodejs of the Saint Mary’s Huskies is the Atlantic University Sport Football Special Teams Player of the Week.

Kodejs, a first-year arts student from Bedford, N.S., had six punts for 209 total yards, averaging 34.8 yards per punt in the Huskies’ 25-13 win over the StFX X-Men on Friday.

He also connected on three of four field goal attempts, the longest for 37 yards, and was good on both of his extra point kicks.

Kodejs currently leads the AUS in field goals made with seven and is tied for first in scoring with 28 points.
