Cariboo Cougars set for home opening weekend

October 3, 2013, PRINCE GEORGE, BC – The Cariboo Cougars will welcome the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds to Prince George for a pair of games. On Saturday October 5th the teams will meet at 3:30 p.m. in CN Centre.

Sunday October the 6th game time is 9:15 a.m. in the Coliseum. The Cougars are off to a 2-0 start, after beating the Greater Vancouver Canadians 4-3 and 6-5. Jesse Roach is the Cats top scorer after recording six points, in two games.

The Thunderbirds are 1-3 on the season after being swept by the Okanagan Rockets and splitting with the North Island Silvertips. The T-birds do feature three of the top four scorers in the league. Andrew Strelezki, is tied for top spot with 10 points. Brice Sharp and Nicholas Ponak both have nine points.

This past week the Cougars named their captains for the season. 17 year old defenceman Scott Cullen will wear the C. Forwards Donovan Law and Cole Morris, as well as defenceman Bryan Allbee will be Cullen’s assistants.

The Cougars also saw 16 year old forward Brogan O’Brien added to the Spruce Kings roster for the remainder of the season.
