High performance training facility

October 3, 2013, LANGFORD, BC – Rugby Canada and the City of Langford are excited and proud to be breaking ground on a new High Performance Facility at the Canadian Rugby Centre of Excellence and Westhills Stadium in Langford, BC.

A press conference and photo opportunity will take place on Monday, October 7 at 1:30pm on the site of the new facility to announce construction getting underway. Beverages and snacks to be provided following the event in the Rugby Canada boardroom.

In attendance at the press conference will be Rugby Canada’s High Performance staff, National Team players, members of the Rugby Canada Board of Directors and Chairman, Chairman of the IRB Rugby Committee, John Jeffrey and the City of Langford’s Council Members and Mayor, Stu Young.

The near 20,000 square foot facility will be immediately across the road from the Rugby Canada offices on Glen Lake Road and will provide athletes with access to a world-class athletic centre. The City of Langford has been exceptionally supportive both financially and in-kind in helping get this project off the ground.

The new high performance facility is a significant addition to the already existing Centre of Excellence that the City of Langford has helped in providing to Rugby Canada. The new training centre will play a large role in preparations for the upcoming Men’s and Women’s World Cup and the 2016 Olympic games in Rio de Janeiro.
