October 7, 2013, CHILLIWACK, B.C. (ISN) – The Camosun Chargers Men’s Golf team placed second at the final 2013 PACWEST tournament hosted by University of the Fraser Valley at the Chilliwack Golf and Country Club this past weekend.

Their second place standing moved them up the overall PACWEST leaderboard to finish with a three-tournament team score of 1,767 – 14 strokes ahead of third place UBCO with 1,781 and a ticket to the 2013 CCAA Ping National Golf Championship in Quebec City, hosted by the Royal Quebec Golf Club, October 15-18.

“The guys battled hard this weekend,” stated Chargers Head Coach John Randle. “They knew a trip to the Nationals was on the line and had to play aggressively if they wanted to punch that ticket to Quebec. In the end, they came through. I’m very proud of how they handled the pressure.”

In the individual standings, Chargers Jarred Callbeck earned his second consecutive PACWEST All-star status, with a three tournament total of 427, finishing just two strokes behind 2013 individual champion of UBCO’s Will Deck (425). UFV’s Aaron Pauls, (428) and Darren Whitehouse (431), plus TRU Brent Pound (431) joined Callbeck and Deck as PACWEST All-stars for the 2013 season.
