Vikes finish fifth in Western Washington Invite

October 8, 2013, VICTORIA (ISN) – The University of Victoria Vikes women’s golf team finished play in the Western Washington Invite Tuesday afternoon, their second tournament in under a week. Fifth-year captain Brynn Tomie led the Vikes, shooting 79, plus-6 and 77, plus-4 to finish eighth overall in individual play.

Victoria’s Cari Chow shot the Vikes next best score in the tournament, shooting 80, plus-7 and 78, plus-5 to finish in 14th spot overall. Emily Nicol, who led after the first day of play, dropped from ninth to 19 after shooting an 82, plus-9 in her second round.

Overall, the Vikes shot a team score 638 to finish in a tie with Dixie State (Utah) for fifth place. The Vikes will now head home for the annual Vikes shootout, Oct. 14-15 at Cordova Bay Golf Club.
