October 10, 2013, WATERLOO, Ont. (ISN) – Going on the road did not make a difference on the scoreboard for the UOIT men’s hockey team as they dropped their fourth straight game by a score of 3-2. Thursday’s loss came against the No. 5 ranked Waterloo Warriors in their home opener at the Columbia Ice Field.

The Ridgebacks are 0-3-1 to start the season, posting 3-2 losses to Brock, York, Concordia and Waterloo.

After falling behind 3-0 to the Warriors, assistant captain Kevin George (Uxbridge, Ont.) would score goals in the second and third period to cut the Warrior lead to just one. UOIT would throw 14 shots on net in the third period but were only able to connect just once, as Waterloo earned the win.

Jordan Ramsay (Pickering, Ont.) had two assists for UOIT, while Matt Pasztor (Langton, Ont.) and Mike Whiteside (Ajax, Ont.) picked up singles.

Ryan Molle, Brett Mackie and Kain Allicock scored for the Warriors, with Chris Chappell and Luke Lynes picking up two assists apiece. Allicock scored the game winning goal on the power play midway through the second period.

UOIT outshot Waterloo 34-26. Ridgebacks’ goaltender Colin Dzijacky made 23 saves in the loss and Justin Leclerc stopped 32 shots.

The Warriors were 1-for-6 with the man advantage and UOIT was shutout in four attempts.

UOIT will now have a week off prior to heading to Dartmouth and Yale for non-conference games from October 18-19. The Ridgebacks will resume conference action on Friday, October 25 against Laurentian in Sudbury.
