Cariboo Cougars fall to Vancouver NE Chiefs

October 13, 2013, Coquitlam (ISN) – The Vancouver NE Chiefs completed a weekend sweep of the Cariboo Cougars on Sunday afternoon with a 5-1 win in B.C. Major Midget League action at Planet Ice in Coquitlam.

Chase Dubois scored the lone goal for the Cougars, who dropped their straight game to fall to 3-3-0 on the year.

The Chiefs took a 2-0 lead after one period, but Dubois cut the gap in half in the second and the Cougars went into the third only down a goal.

Lucas Santucci, with is second of the game, extended the Chiefs lead in the third before Matthew Davis in an empty net and Lucien Serban added goals late for the home side. Ziyan Karim also scored for the Chiefs.

Vancouver NE won the first game of the weekend 4-2 on Saturday and now have a 5-1-2 record on the year.

Dubois finished the weekend with two goals in as many games.

The Cougars will look to snap the losing skid when they return home next weekend for a two-game set against the Valley West Hawks (6-2-0). The Cougars and Hawks will meet on Saturday at 4:15 p.m. and on Sunday at 10 a.m., with both games at the CN Centre.
