Women’s basketball fall to Trinity Western

October 12, 2013, Kamloops, BC (ISN) – The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack have fallen to a win and a loss at their own exhibition women’s basketball tournament.

Playing Saturday night (Oct 12) at the Tournament Capital Centre, the ‘Pack were on the short end of a 69-66 decision to the Trinity Western University Spartans. Both teams are at 1 and 1.

The WolfPack led 19-16 after the first quarter but trailed 39-37 at the half. In the fourth quarter though, TRU dominated as they outscored the Spartans 18-8.

Trinity Western was led by Holly Strom who had 23 points. Janelle Traber added 13 points.

For TRU: Jorri Duxbury (4 th year, guard, Salmon Arm, BC) had 22 points.

Kassie Colonna (2nd year, forward, Invermere, BC) had 17 points while Syd Williams (1st year, guard, Langley, BC) chipped in with13.

Thompson Rivers finishes off their tournament on Sunday (Oct 13) at 11 am against the University of Northern BC Timberwolves . The Timberwolves enter the game at 2 and 0 after beating the University of British Columbia Okanagan Heat 63-61.

The WolfPack begin their 2013-14 Canada West regular season on Friday November 1st with a 6 pm tip off at the TCC against the University of Saskatchewan Huskies.
