WolfPack drop decicion to UNBC to end own tournament

October 13, 2013, Kamloops, BC (ISN) – The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack women’s basketball team wound up their own pre-season tournament with a loss.

The WolfPack fell to the visiting University of Northern British Columbia Timberwolves 79-66 at the Tournament Capital Centre on Sunday (Oct 13).

The WolfPack finished the tourney at 1 and 2. UNBC was unbeaten in three starts.

Thompson Rivers was outscored in every quarter except for the last when they outgunned UNBC 21-19.

Mercedes VanKoughnett, (5th year,Prince George, BC) led the way for UNBC with 25 points and 15 rebounds. Emily Kaehn (5th year, Hixon, BC) added 19 points while Jen Bruce (5th year, Langley, BC) had 11 points.

TRU was led again by Kassie Colonna (2nd year, forward, Invermere, BC) who had 28 points. Sarah Malate (3rd year, guard, Calgary, AB) had 17.

The WolfPack head to Victoria next weekend for an exhibition tournament. They kick off their 2013-14 Canada West season on November 1st at the TCC as they entertain the University of Saskatchewan Huskies. Tip off is 6 pm.
