Guelph, Ont. – Guelph played a rare night game under the lightsat home on Wednesday and defeated the Western Mustangs 2-1.

Once again, the Gryphons dominated the play but the first goal didnot materialize until the red, black and gold were awarded apenalty corner with no time on the clock at the half.

Laura Straus(Waterloo, ON) nailed the ball at the Western cage and JessDonaldson (Invernary, ON) picked up the rebound off a Westerndefender’s stick to put it away for a 1-0 lead.

Nine minutes after the break, Ally Chute (Greenfield Park, QC), whorecently returned to action, set up rookie Nicole Paola (Waterloo,ON) for a 2-0 margin. Unfortunately, the Gryphs had a fewbreakdowns in the second half and allowed the Mustangs to narrowthe gap. Guelph had 11 penalty corners to Western’s 3. End resultwas 2-1 in Guelph’s favour.

The Gryphons improve their record to 8-1-2 with 26 points.

Guelph’s final game of the season is Sunday against Waterloo atWestern. Game time is 3:15 pm.
