October 22, 2013, Kamloops, BC (ISN) —A strong finish to the PACWEST regular season has propelled the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack into a top five spot in both the women’s and men’s national rankings.
The WolfPack men have jumped from third to second in the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association rankings while the TRU women stay at number four.
In the men’s rankings, Humber Hawks of the OCAA are the new number one team. They were second last week.
The rest of the top five in men’s soccer are Elans de Garneau of the RSEQ who have moved from fourth spot last week to third. Algonquin Thunder of the OCAA are fourth this week, up from number five. While the MacEwan Griffins of the ACAC are fifth this week. They were seventh.
Other PACWEST teams in the top 15 are the Langara College Falcons who are seventh this week (up from eighth). Douglas College Royals remain in 11 th spot.
Last week’s number one mens team—Champlain St. Lambert Cavaliers have fallen to sixth spot.
In women’s play: Indiennes d’Ahuntsic of the RSEQ remain first with MacEwan Griffins of the ACAC second and Elans de Garneau of RSEQ still third. The Seneca Sting of the OCAA are up from sixth spot last week to number five.
Other PACWEST teams in the top 15: Quest Kermoedes remain ninth and the UBCO Heat are 15 th. They were unranked last week.
The PACWEST have their playoffs on Saturday and Sunday (Oct 26-27) at VIU in Nanaimo. The WolfPack men face the host school in their semi final while the TRU women will battle Langara.
