Connor Beauchamp gets his fifth shutout of the season

October 25, 2013, NORTH SAANICH, B.C. (ISN) – Connor Beauchamp made 21 saves for his fifth shutout of the season as the Victoria Cougars blanked the Peninsula Panthers 4-0 on Friday.

The Nanton, Alberta native improved to 10-1-0-1 and now owns a 1.62 goals against average and a .932 save percentage.

Blake Roney, who extended his point streak to four games, scored twice and added an assist while Robert Zadra and Michael Fretz each added singles.

Panthers’ starting goalie Stephen Heslop made 22 saves in a losing cause.

Special teams were a non-factor as the Cougars went 1-for-6 on the power play; meanwhile, Peninsula went 0-for-5.

The win gives Victoria (14-1-0-1) a 14-point lead over the third place Panthers (6-7-2-1) in the South Island Division.

Next game for the Cougars is Wednesday, October 30 against the Westshore Wolves. Game time at Bear Mountain Arena, located at 1767 Island Highway, is 7:00 p.m.
