Rams Roll to Another Victory

October 27, 2013, West Vancouver, BC (ISN) – It is beginning to sound like a broken record, as the Mt. Doug Rams Varsity AAA football team rolled to yet another dominating victory Friday with a 47-0 win over West Vancouver, posting their fourth league shut-out thus far this season.

As has been the case every game this season, it was another dominant first half performance by Mount Douglas and all-star running back Marcus Davis, who rushed for 4 first half touchdowns on runs of 24, 53, 24 and 80 yards to lead the Rams to the victory. Mount Douglas led 40 to 0 at the half.

On the day, Marcus had 7 carries for an incredible 256 yards plus 2 receptions for 20 yards. Julian Luis scored on a 5 yard run in the first quarter and Pato Vega plunged in from 1 yard in the fourth fourth quarter while quarterback Joe Clarke threw a 10 yard pass to Seye Farinu in second quarter to complete the Rams scoring.

Callum Duke hit 5 of 7 converts. Other offensive highlights for Mount Douglas included Joe Clarke going 7 for 12 for 84 yards passing, Pato Vega with 8 carries for 55 yards and Julian Luis, Marcus Davis and Seye Farinu all finishing with 2 receptions each.

On the special teams, the Rams were able to retain possession of the opening kickoff as Sean Waugh covered the ball on the kickoff. Jonah Merino chipped in with a couple of tackles on the kickoff team.

On the defensive side of the ball for the Rams, Ryan Yeske had a strong game and registered 3 tackles in addition to his excellent pass coverage and Jonah Merino also finished with 3 tackles. Seye Farinu, Marcus Davis, Julian Luis, Pato Vega, Peter Elwood, James Jones and James Nicholas all had multiple tackle games as well. Seye Farinu chipped in with an interception and was the Wolf of the Week.

The Varsity Rams now turn their attention to their final conference game as they square off against cross-town rival Belmont after a 4 year hiatus. The game is this Friday November 1st with kickoff at 6:00 pm at Westhills Stadium.

This game is also SENIOR DAY as the Rams recognize their graduating players and is also WHITEOUT FRIDAY as the players will be wearing their White Game Jerseys. To that end, ALL Ram Supporters are encouraged to wear WHITE and/or bring a WHITE rally towel.
