October 28, 2013, Victoria B.C. (ISN) – PISE (Pacific Institute for Sport Excellence) will be continuing its community programs into the fall session that runs from October 29 – December 16. Many of the new programs introduced earlier in the fall are available for registrations.
Continuing into the fall includes the popular PISE HITT (High Intensity Interval Training), TRX® Suspension Training Foundations, PISE Super Spin, Beginner Bootcamp, and Kettle Mobility: Kettlebell exercises that will challenge your power, strength and aerobic fitness. PISE also offers drop-in classes in the following programs: Yoga, Fusion, Super Spin, Spin, HIIT, Adapted Strength & Conditioning, Adapted HIIT and Wheelchair Basketball.
Family Fitness starts at PISE on November 2. This program, which was successfully launched at Victoria West Community Centre, addresses health for the whole family. The class starts with a warm-up as a family, and then the parents do a Bootcamp while the kids (age 5-9) participate in a physical literacy class. Each session ends with a fun group game.
Two new Adapted Physical Literacy Programs also start in November. The new programs, Adapt It – Kids, for ages 6 – 12, and Adapt It – Teens, for ages 13 – 18, are dedicated to promote healthy, active living to youths with physical disabilities and mobility limitations.
The ABCs of Physical Literacy programs continue teaching kids aged from 18 mths – 10 years fundamental movement skills and fundamental sport skills, such as throwing, jumping, catching and running. Divided into four age ranges: Mini Movers 18 mths – 3, Active Start 3 – 4, Active Play 5 – 7, and Play Sport 8 – 10, the sessions teach the basic ABCs of Physical Literacy -– Agility, Balance, Coordination and Speed.
