October 31, 2013, Saskatchewan (ISN) – The No. 10 ranked University of Saskatchewan Huskies get set to host the University of Calgary Dinos in a tough Canada West battle over the weekend in Rutherford Rink. Game dates are November 1 & 2, at 7:00 pm.
Saskatchewan enters the weekend ranked in the CIS Top 10 for the first time since February of 2012.
With 11 points, the Huskies sit just one point behind the first place Regina Cougars early in the season for the conference lead.
Two Huskies are in the top 10 in conference scoring. Fifth-year Cami Wooster sits sixth with seven points, while freshman Kaitlin Willoughby is eighth with six.
Calgary’s Janelle Parent is also in the top 10 with eight points to sit third. Parent enters the weekend on a three-game goal streak.
Since Calgary returned to the Canada West in 2009-10, the Huskies are 10-6 against the Dinos in conference competition including an impressive 6-1-1 at Rutherford Rink. Last season Saskatchewan went 1-0-1 at home and split a pair of games on the road with Calgary.
UNIVERSITY OF CALGARY DINOS (3-4-1)
After getting off to a slow start in 2013-14, the Dinos look to get back to .500 in Saskatoon this weekend.
Calgary has been led offensively early in the campaign by fourth-year forward Janelle Parent. Parent is on a three-game goal scoring streak and has recorded eight points in eight games.
Amanda Tapp has appeared in seven games for Calgary posting a 2-3 record with a 2.35 goals against average and a .914 save percentage.
No. 10 UNIVERSITY OF SASKATCHEWAN HUSKIES (5-2-1)
Saskatchewan returns from a tough four-game road trip where they went 2-1-1 against Alberta and Lethbridge.
Fifth-year forward Cami Wooster has four goals and three assists to sit sixth in the Canada West with seven points. Forward Kaitlin Willoughby sits eighth in the conference with three goals and three assists in her first CIS season.
Cassidy Hendricks has started five games between the pipes for the Huskies posting a 3-2 record with a 1.93 goals against average and a .927 save percentage.
