Blades name Scherbak player of the month

November 5, 2013, SASKATOON, SK (ISN) – The Saskatoon Blades are pleased to announce that right-winger Nikita Scherbak has been named as the team’s Heinrichs Jewellery Player Of The Month for October.

The 6’2, 174 pound forward from Moscow, Russia, registered at least one point in 13 of the 14 games he appeared in during the month of October. Over that span of 14 games, he posted 11 goals, 14 assists, 25 points, and a +12 rating. Included in his 11 goals were 6 powerplay markers and one game-winning goal.

Scherbak used three multi-goal games and 8 multi-point games to take home the honour of Player Of The Month, the first time it has been awarded during the 2013-14 season.

Scherbak was given a run for the Player Of The Month title by his centerman for most of the month, Nathan Burns. Burns posted 9 goals and 23 points in October. Scherbak and Burns are currently tied for the team lead in scoring, putting up 27 points each so far in 2013-14.

Scherbak will be presented with a watch from Heinrichs Jewellery prior to the start of the next home game this Saturday as the Blades host the Moose Jaw Warriors to finish off a stretch of three games in three nights.
