Royals’ prospects complete Western Canada U16 Challenge Cup


November 4, 2013, Victoria, BC (ISN) – The Victoria Royals would like to congratulate prospects Jared Dmytriw, Dante Hannoun, Ralph Jarratt, Matthew Phillips and Carter Stephenson on their recent participation at the Western Canada Under-16 Challenge Cup.

Phillips and Team Alberta captured gold after a 4-2 victory on Sunday against Hannoun, Jarratt and Stephenson’s Team British Columbia. Dmytriw and Team Saskatchewan finished the tournament in fourth place. Dmytriw, Hannoun, Jarratt and Phillips have all been signed by the Royals to WHL Standard Player Agreements.

Phillips helped Team Alberta to the gold medal and a 4-0 record with a pair of goals through the four games. Hannoun recorded two points (1g-1a) in three games while Jarratt picked up one assist in four contests en route to Team British Columbia’s silver medal.

The Western Canada Under-16 Challenge Cup brings together top-rated players under the age of 16 to represent their province in a four-team tournament each year. The tournament was held at Father David Bauer Arena in Calgary, AB last weekend and was comprised of teams from BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

The Royals will host the Edmonton Oil Kings on Wednesday night. As announced during Saturday’s game, all fans who present their ticket stub from the November 2nd game against Red Deer at the Select Your Tickets box office will receive a $5.00 ticket to the game on Wednesday!
