November 6, 2013, Brandon, Manitoba (ISN) – Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries, in association with the Brandon Wheat Kings have announced that veteran right-winger Richard Nejezchleb has been chosen the Western Hockey League club’s IMPACT Player of the Month for September / October.

This award is presented to the Wheat King who contributes to the team and exemplifies the characteristics of what IMPACT stands for…Inspire, Motivate, Participate, Achieve, Champion and Team.

A first round draft choice of the Wheat Kings in the 2012 Canadian Hockey League Import Draft, the native of Praha, Czech Republic scored eleven points in 15 games last month, including a team leading eight goals.

Of his eight goals during September and October, three came on the powerplay and one was a game winner.

One of five current Wheat Kings to attend National Hockey League Training Camps in September as he was invited to the Pittsburgh Penguins camp following an impressive showing at their summer development camp.

A member of Slavia Praha (U20 junior team in 2011-12), Richard returned home from the Wheat Kings longest road trip of the season Monday with fourteen points including 11 goals in seventeen games. His eleven goals matches last year’s output when he scored 11 goals and 24 points in 36 games.

Since joining the Wheat Kings in September 2012, the 6’3″ 210 lb Nejezchleb has scored 22 goals and 38 points in 53 games.

Nejezchleb, who represented his native country at the 2011 Memorial of Ivan Hlinka Tournament, will be recognized at this Friday’s game against the visiting Swift Current Broncos at Westman Communications Group Place. Friday’s game will be the second of three home games that the Wheat Kings will play in over a five day stretch. Brandon will host Saskatoon on Thursday and the Lethbridge Hurricanes will make their first appearance of the season on Monday afternoon.

Brandon enters the weekend with a record of 9-9-0 and are coming off back to back weekend victories in Everett and Lethbridge. Nejezchleb had two goals, including the game winner in Sunday’s 6-2 victory over the Hurricanes.
