Ardron to Captain Canada against Georgia

November 7, 2013, TBLISI, GEORGIA (ISN) – Canada head coach Kieran Crowley has announced his starting roster to face Georgia on Saturday, November 9 in Tbilisi.

The starting XV features only four changes from last Sunday’s roster that faced the New Zealand Maori All Blacks at BMO Field in downtown Toronto.

Tight head prop Andrew Tiedemann returns from an injury suffered during last month’s IRB Americas Rugby Championship while Adam Kleeberger is set to receive his first cap since the 2011 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand. Phil Mackenzie (Sale Sharks) and Brett Beukeboom (Plymouth Albion RFC) will start on the wing and second row respectively.

Captaining the side will be 2012 Men’s Fifteens Player of the Year, Tyler Ardron after Aaron Carpenter received an injury against the Maori All Blacks.

Three young forwards – Jake Ilnicki, Djustice Sears-Duru and Benoit Piffero – will potentially receive their first cap for Canada’s Senior Men’s Team on Saturday coming off the bench.

Georgia is well known for having a strong, physical forward pack and Canada will be challenged in set pieces following an arduous travel schedule from Toronto to the Georgian capital earlier this week. Winger, Irakli Machkhaneli, who’s appearing in his 67th international test match, will captain Georgia.

The last meeting between these two sides saw Canada emerge victorious by a score of 31-12 in June 2012 in Burnaby, British Columbia. Saturday’s test match is the first of three for Georgia in November and the second of four for Canada.

Saturday’s international test match kicks off at 2pm local time (5:00am ET/2:00am PT) and can be viewed LIVE at
