November 8, 2013, Kelowna (ISN) – The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Prince George Cougars 5-2 on Friday night at Prospera Place in Kelowna, scoring five unanswered goals to come from behind for their sixth straight win.
Five different Rockets scored in the game as Kelowna outshot Prince George 51-28, but it took all the way to the third period before they could solve Prince George netminder Ty Edmonds.
Down 2-1 in the third Tyson Baillie scored on a quick shot from the face-off circle to tie the game 2-2 and open the floodgates.
After trying the game the Rockets added three more in three minutes of the third, putting the game away as Colton Heffley, Nick Merkley and Ryan Olsen scored in quick succession. Riley Stadel had his ninth of the season for Kelowna earlier in the game, the highest total of any WHL defenceman.
Jackson Whistle earned the win in net for the Rockets, making some timely saves to keep his club in it before they took over in the third period.
Marc McNulty and Jordan Tkatch had the Cougars markers.
The Rockets sixth win in a row improved its record to 13-2-0-2 on the season, heading into the another home game Saturday night at Prospera Place when the Edmonton Oil Kings come to town.
It was Pink Power Play night at Propsera Place with the Rockets players wearing one-of-a-kind jersey’s that were auctioned off for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation in an annual fundraiser.
