November 13, 2013, Kamloops, B.C. (ISN) – The Thompson Rivers University Hockey team is on fire as they look to avenge their home opener loss to Trinity Western this Friday down in Langley at the Ian Stewart Complex.
The ‘Pack currently sit alone in second place in B.C. Intercollegiate Hockey League standings. The rematch kicks off at 7:00p.m.
TRU lost 4-3 to the Spartans back on October 4th down at Memorial Arena. They also dropped a preseason game 5-4 to the Spartans on September 14th. TWU are 5-4 on the season.
Head coach Don Schulz believes that the ‘Pack have changed a lot as a team since then.
“We have evolved quite a bit since then,” Schulz said. “We are in a lot better shape and we have made some systematic changes up front.”
The WolfPack have altered their forward lines and have changed the way they fore-check in the offensive and neutral zone.
TRU is on cruise control right now. A four game winning streak has seen the WolfPack win games in a different fashion each night.
“We are figuring out ways to be successful,” coach Schulz said. “Ten games in, guys are settling into their roles and understand what they need to do for the team to be successful.”
Trying to predict who will be in net for the orange and black is like trying to play a game of “Guess Who.” Stephen Wolfe started last weekend and backstopped the ‘Pack to two victories. All three goalies have played well at different points this season. Both Mark Menicucci and Stephen Wolfe have played against the Spartans this year. Go ahead then, take a guess.
TRU will go on a bit of a tour before their next home game. Victoria comes to town on November 29th for the WolfPack’s final game before the league breaks for the holidays.
All games are broadcasted on FAST Hockey, the link is available on the TRU Hockey website.
