New features for the 2014 Series will begin in Shawnigan Lake with the new Trestle Challenge distance. Victoria will expand its Saturday music festival and Vancouver will once again be Long Distance National Championships and also add a Half Iron distance Aqua Bike course – perfect preparation for Whistler. The races will again keep many of the features that athletes have come to enjoy; beautiful courses, professionally-run events, qualifying spots, expos, family activities, great race garments and much more.
Race #1: Subaru Shawnigan Lake Triathlon
“The Wildflower of the North” – May 25th
– Run over the magnificent Kinsol Trestle!
– New this year: “The Trestle Challenge”
Canada’s first outdoor triathlon festival of the year provides a “Beautiful B.C.” experience at Shawnigan Lake, just a short 30 minute drive from Victoria. Run on the breathtaking Trans Canada trail to the newly rebuilt historic Kinsol Trestle, with no pavement pounding your legs! A true West Coast experience in one of the most beautiful areas of the world – the Wildflower of the North. Like Wildflower, the famous early season California triathlon festival, the Shawnigan event features: the first chance to swim an open water triathlon in a stunning scenic venue, beautiful trail running, great camping near the race site and a fun festival atmosphere. The event also includes the energy of the Western Canadian High School Championships open to all middle and high school students. Try out a new event this year – the “Trestle Challenge” where participants will swim 1.5km, bike 45km, and run a half marathon to the Trestle and back! The weekend activities also include a Saturday festival in Shawnigan Lake Village with live entertainment, food sampling, demonstrations, clinics, sponsor and local business expo booths, and concessions.
Race #2: Saunders Subaru Victoria Triathlon
“A True Canadian Classic” – June 15th
– Ironman Canada Qualifier (pending confirmation)
– The perfect Ironman Canada preparation event!
– Fantastic Saturday Music Festival
A sentimental favourite in the sport of triathlon and now in its 19th year, this tremendously popular yet low-key, grassroots race is famous not only for its commemorative “Hoody” but also for its one loop swim course, beautiful ride through the Saanich Peninsula and two loop trail run around the scenic Elk Lake. With Ironman Canada taking place at the end of July this year, participants will use the Half Ironman event here as the perfect preparation race. The race has a rich history of producing Ironman Champions and was recently named as one of the top 10 Greenest Triathlons in the world! Race weekend will include a music festival on Saturday, a sponsor expo, keynote speakers, entertainment on the course, kid’s activities and ample photo backdrops to help you capture the moment. Bring a picnic lunch, relax and enjoy Father’s Day with family and friends.
Race #3: Subaru Saskatoon Triathlon
“Canada’s Sunniest Triathlon” – June 29
– As Seen Nationally on TSN
– Provincial Championships
– World Championships Qualifier
Last year the Series welcomed Saskatoon, and what a debut it was! Athletes were treated to an incredible point to point course that featured a swim in Pike Lake Provincial Park, a ride into Saskatoon on charming country roads and an exciting downtown run and finish in the beautiful River Valley. Canada’s sunniest city did not disappoint and adding to the festival environment was the Saskatoon Jazz Festival featuring 5 live outdoor venues around town with internationally renowned artists!

Presented by BlueShore Financial
“National Long Distance Championships” – July 13th
– World Long Distance Championship Qualifier
– “Top 10 Urban Triathlons on Earth”
– New this year: The Whistler Preparation Aqua Bike!
The Subaru Vancouver Triathlon will take place in the magnificent setting of the Spanish Banks Beaches with stunning views of the downtown Vancouver skyline and the picturesque North Shore Mountains. This event will be the most beautiful urban triathlon you will ever experience. The race’s rapid rise in popularity has been in large part due to the fact that it is one of the few triathlons in the world that will take place in a major city yet has stunning natural beauty. The race has been named “Top 10 Urban Triathlons on the Planet” and attracts first timers in the sprint, to celebrities, to Half Iron competitors preparing for Ironman Canada. The event features a Sprint, Olympic, Long Distance (Half Iron), Team Relays in all distances and the new Half Iron Aqua Bike event inspired by athletes preparing for Ironman Canada Whistler – a swim/bike event designed to build final fitness but save the legs for Whistler. The Long Distance event will serve as National Championships where 10 amateur athletes per age group and 4 Elite Athletes will qualify to represent Canada at the 2015 World Long Distance Championships. Join us in the beautiful Olympic City!
Race #5: Subaru Banff Triathlon
“Canada’s Premier Destination Triathlon” – September 6th
Banff National Park is the heart of the Canadian Rocky Mountains, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and a global treasure of natural beauty, wildness, and diversity of life – a spectacular and unique destination for the Subaru Banff Triathlon. Imagine doing a triathlon in such a beautiful place – one of the most picturesque races in the world. Swim in the pristine waters of Two Jack Lake, cycle around stunning Minnewanka Loop Road and into the town of Banff, finishing the run on famous Banff Avenue (closed for the race) with thousands of cheering spectators. Last year athletes also enjoyed warm water temperatures! The race takes place on Saturday, allowing you to enjoy the Saturday social activities and the rest of the weekend.
