November 19, 2013 (ISN) – Here are the Atlantic University Sport Football Players of the Week for week 11, ending Nov. 17, 2013. Brandon Leyh, Kwame Adjei, and Donovan Saunders, all from Mount Allison University.

Offensive Player of the Week

Name: Brandon Leyh

  • Height and weight: 6’2″, 215lbs

Quarterback Brandon Leyh of the Mount Allison Mounties is the Atlantic University Sport Football Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Nov. 17, 2013.

Leyh, a 6-foot-2, second-year commerce student from New Westminster, B.C., completed 22-of-36 pass attempts for 240 yards, including three touchdown passes in the Mounties’ 48-21 loss to the Laval Rouge et Or in Saturday’s 2013 CIS Uteck Bowl game.

Despite the loss, Mount Allison’s 21 points are the second most scored against Laval in a single game this season.

Defensive Player of the Week

Name: Kwame Adjei

  • Height and weight: 6’1″, 195lbs

Defensive back Kwame Adjei of the Mount Allison Mounties is the Atlantic University Sport Football Defensive Player of the Week.

A third-year commerce student from Brampton, Ont., Adjei had 8.5 tackles (seven solo and three assisted) in Mount Allison’s 48-21 loss to Laval in Saturday’s CIS Uteck Bowl.

Adjei also had one sack for a loss of four yards and 2.5 tackles for a loss of eight total yards. His stats also included a forced fumble, two fumble returns and a pass breakup.

Special Teams Player of the Week

Name: Donovan Saunders

  • Hometown: Brampton, Ont.
  • Year of eligibility: Third
  • Academic program: BA Sociology
  • Height and weight: 6’0″, 180lbs

Kick returner Donovan Saunders of the Mount Allison Mounties is the Atlantic University Sport Football Special Teams Player of the Week.

A third-year sociology student from Brampton, Ont., Saunders had four kickoff returns for 49 yards, the longest for 17 yards, in Mount Allison’s 48-21 CIS Uteck Bowl loss to Laval on Saturday.

On defence, Saunders also boasted a forced fumble and five tackles in the game (three solo and four assisted), including 1.5 tackles for a loss of five yards.
