Huskies hit mat at home Saturday

November 19, 2013, Saskatchewan (ISN) – The University of Saskatchewan Huskie wrestling team is happy to be home. For the first time this season, the Huskies will hit the mat at home in the annual Huskie Open.

The meet is Saturday with Huskie wrestlers competing against conference teams from the University of Calgary, University of Regina, University of Winnipeg and University of Alberta.

Club teams will also participate in the tournament. More than 100 athletes are expected to compete in the event in the 11 men’s weight classes and eight women’s weight classes.

The Huskies will also compete at home on February 14-15 when the University of Saskatchewan hosts the Canada West Championship.

Athletes will hit the mat at 9:30 a.m. Saturday and are expected to wrap up around 4 p.m. All matches are in the Education Gym.
