November 20, 2013, Victoria, BC (ISN) – The Victoria Royals will host the Kamloops Blazers at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre for two games this weekend on Friday, November 22nd and Saturday, November 23rd. Puck dropped is slated for 7:05 p.m. both nights.
The Blazers (6-15-2-1) come to Vancouver Island for the first time this year on Friday. Kamloops currently sits in 10th place in the Western Conference standings, nine points back of the Vancouver Giants for the final playoff spot. Leading the charge for the Blazers this season is Dallas Stars prospect Cole Ully, who leads his team with 26 points (10g-16a) in 22 games. Defensively, Kamloops is led by North Saanich, BC native and 20-year-old Sam Grist who leads the Blazers in penalty minutes with 69.
The Royals (14-10-0-1) finish off a two-game road trip tonight with a matchup against the division-leading Kelowna Rockets. On Tuesday night, Victoria paid a visit to the Blazers and walked away with a 2-1 victory and their fourth straight win away from home. Making his debut this weekend will be Axel Blomqvist who was acquired in a trade earlier today. An Osby, Sweden native, Blomqvist comes to the Royals after he spent the previous year with the Lethbridge Hurricanes. The 6-6, 212 lb winger skated in 78 games with the Hurricanes and potted 46 points (15g-31a).

Friday, November 22nd
BMO Bank of Montreal will be in the concourse as part of BMO Ultimate Fan Night on Friday! The first 2,500 fans will receive thundersticks, the BMO Bear will be in attendance and there will be face painting at Gate 1. Fans are encouraged to wear their Royals gear and colours, and watch for their chance to be noticed in the stands during the BMO Ultimate Fan promotion during the first period. Three fans will be chosen to participate in the BMO Ultimate Fan trivia contest during the second intermission. The winner will be named the Victoria Royals BMO Ultimate Fan, win a $50 BMO prepaid MasterCard and be entered into a grand prize draw for a trip for two to the MasterCard Memorial Cup in London, Ontario!
The first intermission on Friday night will have Victoria Minor Hockey participate in the Tim Bits Minor Hockey presented by 100.3 The Q! while the second intermission will see one fan be named the Victoria Royals BMO Ultimate Fan!
During the game, fans will be a chance to purchase tickets for the End of the Roll 50/50 draw and foam puck for the Old House Village Chuck-A-Puck. The prize for the night’s Chuck-A-Puck will be a one-night stay and spa treatment for two courtesy of Old House Village. Proceeds for the Old House Village Chuck-A-Puck will go towards Victoria Women’s Volleyball League, while the End of the Roll 50/50 goes to support Victoria Racquet Club Minor Hockey.
Saturday, November 23rd
Saturday night will be TELUS Night at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre. TELUS will be in the concourse inviting fans to Shoot to Score! All Shoot to Score participants will have a chance to win one of eight Victoria Royals prize packs, four tickets to a future Royals’ home game, a Samsung smartphone or even a 42″ LG television. Fans are also invited to collect a TELUS card on entrance, take their picture using it and to share them with using the hashtag #OptikHDHockey via Twitter and Instagram.
Capital Iron will also be present in the concourse to hand out coupons with lucky numbers printed on them. Fans can then check their number at the Capital Iron booths for their chance to win a prize from Evolution Lighting and Columbia Sportswear.
The first intermission will see young hockey players from Juan de Fuca Minor Hockey participate in the Tim Bits Minor Hockey presented by 100.3 The Q!. The second intermission will play host to the TELUS Optik Challenge, where one fan will win a TELUS Victoria Royals Prize Pack.
During the game, tickets for both the End of the Roll 50/50 and Old House Village Chuck-A-Puck will be available. The prize for the evening’s Chuck-A-Puck will be a one-night stay and spa treatment for two courtesy of Old House Village. Proceeds from the evening’s End of the Roll 50/50 draw will support the Wishart Elementary School PAC, while the Old House Village Chuck-A-Puck will go towards the Victoria Hockey Academy.
