November 25, 2013, Vancouver, BC (ISN) – Vancouver Canucks wives and significant others are helping to fill empty stockings at two Canucks home games by participating in a very special fundraiser for The Province newspaper’s Empty Stocking Fund. The first event goes tonight, November 25th and the second on Friday, December 6th at Rogers Arena.
Balloon sales will be conducted by Canucks wives and significant others on the concourse in sections 111 and 326. A limited number of balloons will be sold for $20 a “pop” during the first intermission. Great prizes such as signed Canuck photos will be available to those who participate. Full proceeds will go to The Province Empty Stocking Fund.
“It’s really special for us to be involved and help out B.C. communities that are so supportive of what our significant others do,” said Andrea Kesler. “Canucks fans are very generous and always supportive of this event.”
Empty Stocking Fund volunteers, who come from the community as well as The Province newspaper and Pacific Newspaper Group staff, give of their time to collect donations from fans at entrances, on the concourses and in the suites.
Canucks wives and significant others, along with The Province Empty Stocking Fund volunteers, raised more than $17,000 when this fundraiser last took place in 2011. The Province Empty Stocking Fund helps those in need at Christmas through worthwhile non-profit community organizations. Money raised during previous campaigns have gone to designated Christmas Bureaus, Salvation Army units and other worthwhile community organizations throughout BC, who provide assistance such as toys, clothing and food for those in need at Christmas.
