November 29, 2013, Saskatoon (ISN) – The No. 4 University of Saskatchewan Huskies outscored the visiting University of Manitoba Bisons 17-6 in a five minute overtime period to win 87-76 Saturday night at the PAC in Saskatoon.

Kiera Lyons scored 10 of her 21 points in the extra frame to help Saskatchewan to the win. The Huskies started overtime on a 9-0 run before Manitoba scored with 1:06 remaining.

Manitoba outscored the Huskies 25-16 in the fourth quarter to force overtime after trailing 54-45 entering the final period.

Saskatchewan improves to a conference best 8-1 with the win. Manitoba (3-6) suffers its fifth straight loss.

Dalyce Emmerson scored a game-high 30 points to lead the Huskies. The Canada West blocks leader added three more to her season total while grabbing nine rebounds. Kabree Howard recorded five assists and nine points.

Sheree Carmona-Galdamez was a perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line and finished the night with a team-high 18 points for Manitoba. Alison Balasko and Robyn Eyer scored 14 each with Balasko recording a team-high seven rebounds.

Manitoba took an early 11-3 lead in the opening minutes thanks to a pair of three’s from Eyer. but Saskatchewan quickly responded with a 15-2 run to hold a 21-18 lead after ten minutes.

The Huskies led for most of the second quarter, but Manitoba did not let the lead grow to more than five points and closed it to 36-35 by halftime. While both teams shot the ball well in the first half, Manitoba held an advantage from long range hitting on 6-of-14 three-point shots, while Saskatchewan went 2-for-7.

Saskatchewan outscored the Bisons 18-10 in the third to take a 54-45 lead heading to fourth quarter.

The Huskies finished the game shooting 51% from the field, while Manitoba shot 44%.
