November 29, 2013, Kamloops, BC (ISN) – It wasn’t one of the most beautifully played basketball games Thompson Rivers has ever played since they joined the Canada West, but the result was favorable.

The WolfPack opened up the final weekend of the 2013 portion of the Canada West women’s basketball season with a 70-63 victory over the visiting Mount Royal Cougars at the Tournament Capital Centre on Friday (Nov 29).

The victory raised TRU’s record to 5 and 4 while Mount Royal falls to 1 and 8.

“We didn’t shoot the ball particularly well,’ said WolfPack head coach Scott Reeves. ” Some people lost confidence in their shot.”

Jorri Duxbury (4th year, guard, Salmon Arm, BC) had 25 points and nine rebounds along with four blocks and two steals. She was named the McDonalds/TRU Bookstore “Leader of the Pack” player of the game.

Taiysa Worsfold (3rd year, forward, Kamloops, BC) was 0-11 for field goals but was 11 for 15 from the free throw line and wound up with 19 points.

Rae-Maryse Laljee (4th year, guard, Richmond, BC) had 13 rebounds as did Ryan Kennedy (1st year, forward, Okotoks, AB).

Mount Royal had three players in double digits. Jordan McLean (2nd year, forward, Hinton, AB) had 14 points. Carrie Campbell 5th year, forward, Raymond, AB) chipped in 1ith 12 while Angela Driscoll (2nd year, guard, Calgary, AB) added 13 points.

The two teams play again at the TCC on Saturday starting at 5 pm.
