November 30, 2013, COURTENAY, B.C. (ISN) – Michael Hails stopped 27 shots as the Comox Valley Glacier Kings snapped the Victoria Cougars six-game winning streak with a 4-3 victory Saturday night.
Comox Valley (16-10-1-2), who led 3-1 after one period and 4-3 after two, moved to within a point of the North Island Division leading Nanaimo Buccaneers.
Liam Shaw scored twice for the Glacier Kings while Austin McNeil and Brendyn Smith each added singles.
Especially good was Hails who turned aside all ten shots he faced in the third period.
David Marshall had a goal and two assists for Victoria (20-4-1-1). Also lighting the lamp in a losing cause were Robert Zadra and Blake Roney.
In net for the Cougars was Connor Beauchamp who made 18 saves.
Victoria went 1-for-5 on the power play; meanwhile, the Glacier Kings went 0-for-1.
In Kerry Park, Armand Uomoleale had two goals and three assists and Leighton Williams stopped 39 shots as the Islanders beat the Oceanside Generals 6-2 in a game that saw the home side score two shorthanded goals.
Next game for the Cougars is Wednesday, December 4 against the Westshore Wolves. Game time at Bear Mountain Arena, located at 1767 Island Highway, is 7:00 p.m.
